We hope you will be able to experience and learn about our culture as you read our mission and begin to understand the passion that motivates us to provide this educational opportunity to children.
We are a community of parents, faculty, administrators, board members, grandparents and friends, who working together share a common vision. The vision is to be the benchmark in early childhood and elementary education globally.
While these goals may seem lofty at first glance, these children are our future. Here at Dovecrest Montessori Academy, we provide a rich, broad-based curriculum, which challenges the children academically as they work independently and collaboratively in multi-aged classrooms. Using didactic learning materials, designed to be responsive to a wide range of interests and skills, children are encouraged to explore a world of ideas, information and creativity.
Our faculty is committed to meeting each child's need as they build the classroom community.
The children in our primary classes range in age from 2.9 to 6 years. Morning lessons begin at 9:00 AM. Children in the half-day primary classes are dismissed at noon. Children in the full-day primary classes and elementary classes remain for lunch and an afternoon session until 2:30 PM. Before-school care is available at from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM. After-school care is available until 6:00 PM for children of all ages at Dovecrest Montessori Academy.
Our elementary level continues the development of the child for children ages 6 to 12. The curriculum at these levels is expanded as widely as possible to enkindle interest in every area of culture, mathematics, geometry, language, history, geography, botany, zoology, earth science, chemistry, physics, art, music, crafts, drama, and physical education.
Our purpose is to lead these children toward Dr. Maria Montessori’s goal of “cosmic education, which is a complete vision of reality and man, and an ability to interpret both of them in their essence, nature, and reciprocal relationship." The work at each age group represents a continuous program so those parents enrolling their children should be committed to allowing them to complete each three-year cycle.
Our teachers are trained in addition to their undergraduate or graduate degrees, and also completed numerous studies enabling them to understand the needs of children of this age.
The school year is from September to June, following, in general, the calendar for Brockton Public School. Dovecrest Montessori Academy also operates a Montessori summer day camp program for children, 3 to 14 years, during June, July and August.
We hope this information will be helpful. Please call the school for an appointment to speak with our administrative staff who will show you around the school and discuss the possibility of entrance.
